Between the south of Minas Gerais state and
the north-west of São Paulo
state, volcanic soils
from the caldera of an 80-million-year-old extinct
volcano provide the climate and altitude, which
defines a unique
“terroir” in which our coffees
are produced.
Our demarcated and protected territory covers
12 municipalities over
the mountains, which divides
these two important coffee-producing
states of Brazil.
Here, quality coffee growing has a history.
Passed on from generation
to generation, a
solid sociocultural legacy has been established,
nourished
by the work and dedication of our
producers.
From this legacy came the Região Vulcânica
(Volcanic Region) connecting
our provenance
to a new world and building a sustainable future
for coffee
growing in our region. We are innovating
our methods of production and
creating new ethical
demands, with transparency and respect for the
environment and the consumer.
This is our spirit: going beyond just quality and
creating real opportunities
for our region, reflected
in the excellence of our production and in the high
quality of renowned Região Vulcânica coffees.
The predominant vegetation of the
Região
Vulcânica is formed by tropical
forests of the
Mata Atlântica type. With
volcanic soil, the
altitude of plantations
varies between 700
and 1,300 metres,
averaging 1,075 metres.
The average annual temperature
ranges
from 17°C to 20°C and annual
rainfall averages
1,686mm in the region,
providing exceptional
conditions for
coffee growing of the highest
quality.
